Overview
  • One of the most frustrating things about using a PC from my point of view, being disabled with Muscular Dystrophy, is the lack of choice with the operating systems I can use and the rather poor control I have with what I can use.

I'm not going to carry on about how bad Windows is because to be quite honest, a) the Internet is littered with enough anti-Microsoft comments and b) I like Windows XP. Having said that, I would like to experiment with Linux on my system but that would require me to use X with an on-screen keyboard. Now this might be fine for some but I want to use the normal text mode interface.

So as far as I can figure out, the only option is to emulate a real keyboard which means I can use any OS of my choice and use any piece of software! Hence my idea was born. I started work on it but became sidetracked as usual so one of these days I'll find some able bodied person to carry on building the prototype for me.

Here are a few out of focus pictures showing the display.
